Hello everyone! After a very good success in the competition to perform at Exit Festival i got the chance to take part in this year's Exit Music Conference that was held at the Petrovaradin fortress.This year's Exit music conference was dealt with various topics that was helpful to all those present to clarify some things about the attitudes of electronic music.In addition to the conference in special showrooms were held workshops which was led by Player.rs (equipment dealer) and SAE Institute (world leader in multimedia education).
On first day we had opportunity to listen an interview with Cris Hearn, the agent of the world famous dance band - Underworld.After the interview conference continued with panel "Cloud music", dedicated to researching the impact of the Internet on the music industries.This topic was discussed between Nikhil Shah - one of the founders of the site Mixcloud, Kink - DJ and producer from Bulgaria who are just experiencing an expansion on the international scene, Peter Savic - Exit ambassador of social networking, and Svetozar Milicevic - Exit Music Project Manager.After that Mile Hund has showed us his iPhone application - the legendary emulator 909 drum machine.
Second day of the music conference was dedicated to video engineering.The meeting started with the interview with Dom B - Stanton Warriors and later Toby Vogel (Underworld video engineer) and Goran Balaban (Dance Arena mapping) are showed us how to mix video with sound and what we need to create sublimation between picture and sound.At the workshops we had the opportunity to test new devices that many djs use to mix their music and to try famous Traktor Kontrol S4.
As the previous day meeting started with the interview with Karen Young (Dance Arena program manager).Later, at the panel we had discussion with topic: Lost in Music - How to live on world of music? On this panel we had chance to hear opinions of Melissa Taylor (Tailored Communications owner, experienced artist PR),Ben UFO,Jonty Skrufff and Marko Milosavljević.In showrooms i had a chance to play a little on new traktor kontrol s4 and i was pleased with his performance.
Last day of the conference was started the interview with Steve Aoki and on the panel we discussed about festivals and how to perform at it with Union DJs,Mile Hund and Andriy Hoshva (Kazantip festival).Later in showrooms we had presentation of Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer and Native Instruments Machine.
In my opinion the most useful workshops were those held by the SAE,precisely Nenad Petronijevic.He explained to us things that we need to deal with music production and in a few examples show us how to start with track production.Also he told us which plugins to use and he demonstrated it in Ableton live.
This year at one of the biggest festival in Europe performed: Magnetic Man,Arcade Fire,Deadma5,James Zabiela,Joris Voorn,Underworld,Marco Carola,Carl Craig,Maya Jane Coles,KiNK,Nosaj Thing,Groove Armada,Jamiroquai,Porishead,Grinderman,Digitalism,Paul Kalkrenner and many more.
Once again this was fantastic experience for me and i cant wait next years Exit!
